FAQ’s

Have a question or two?

How do I book with Dekkabus?

In the first instance, let us know your requirements by using our quote form, giving us a call or emailing us. We will get back to you with availability and a price. We will also explain the rest process of the process. But rest assured, it’s not that difficult and we aim to make life as easy as possible for you!

Can I book your services through a coach broker?

No. As a matter of principle, we don’t work for any coach brokers. If you want to be sure that you will receive the standard of service that you expect, and will pay for, we strongly advise you to book direct with a specific coach company like us. As we own and operate our own vehicles, employ our staff directly and work from a recognised and well-resourced depot you can be sure you know whom you are dealing with.

Does the cost of hire include a driver?

Yes, the prices we quote for coach hire always includes the driver.

Are there any other fees?

Depending on your route and itinerary there may be additional coach parking, airport fees, road and/or bridge or tunnel tolls, driver’s accommodation and meals. These fees will be advised to you at the time of booking though in some cases precise amounts may not be known until the coach hire has been completed.

Is bus hire subject to VAT?

No. At present bus and coach hire in and from the UK is zero-rated for VAT purposes.

When do I need to pay for my coach hire?

Full payment for your classic bus hire is due no later than 7 days prior to travel, except where accounts have been specifically approved for credit. Card payments are not accepted.

Do you provide coaches for people in wheelchairs?

Sadly, no. However, our vehicles have low floor access and are easy to board and alight.

Do your classic vehicles have seatbelts?

Just like the local buses operated in Bournemouth and Poole, seatbelts are not fitted to our vehicles. Bear in mind that the top speed of a classic bus is 40mph+/- and that journey times are, more often than not, much shorter than those journeys taken on a long distance tour coach travelling at much higher speeds on a busy motorway.
Our coaches are fitted with safety belts to all seats. Bus travel is statistically one of, if not the, safest forms of transport available.

Are your drivers all DBS checked?

Yes. Our drivers are required to obtain a clean Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and to obtain clearance from either Dorset or Hampshire County Councils or Poole or Bournemouth Borough Councils that they are considered suitable to work with children and vulnerable adults.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. For your peace of mind and to comply with our obligations, we have comprehensive insurance cover in respect of all our classic buses up to £10million and Employers/Public Liability insurance up to £10million.

Is eating, drinking or smoking allowed on your coaches?

We aim to ensure that our classic buses are presented clean and tidy at all times. For that reason we ask that food (except confectionery) and drink (expect water) is not consumed on the vehicle without prior consent of the Company, unless on a vehicle fitted expressly for that purpose.
Smoking is not permitted on the vehicle at any time. No alcohol will be permitted in the passenger area of the vehicle at any time. We politely ask you to observe our ‘no chewing gum’ policy.

Can we use the standing capacity?

Yes you can! However, standing is only permitted on the lower deck when all seats are occupied on the entire vehicle.

What did Trev’ get his MBE for?

For services to Road Safety.  He’s the closest thing was have to Royalty!  (At least he’s doesn’t make us all bow and curtsy any more (however you may if you wish!))
